Torn from her loving home at a young age, Leah Carson was forced to grow up in the cold, cruel environment of her grandparents’ bakery in downtown Charlottesville, Virginia. What seems to outsiders like a delightfully sweet atmosphere is to Leah unending slavery for her money-driven grandpa, constant persecution for her Christian beliefs, and grinding days of stress and exhaustion in an atmosphere void of love. Added to Leah’s burdens are those ever-haunting memories of the tragedies of the past. Will she ever gain any ground in her struggle to be a bright light for Christ and win the hard-hearted atheists around her?

This stirring and suspenseful story will grip your heart, lift your faith, and challenge your commitment as you share in Leah’s tears, fears, and victories over her circumstances. A classic story of grit and grace, it will remind you that when life gets so tough you can hardly stand—kneel.

Hey Libby, I just finished Tried With Fire and wanted to tell you what I thought! First of all, BRAVA! It was a story that, above just reading to be entertained, it made me FEEL so many things. It was extremely convicting. Every time I would finish reading a section of the book, I’d find myself talking with more gentleness to my own family. And without realizing it, every time I’d finish reading it, I felt more drawn to seek the Lord through reading my Bible or praying the way Leah does: constantly and sincerely with no pretenses. This is, I believe, a triumph for an author: to leave the reader thinking on the themes they present and really considering them in application to their own life. I don’t read much fiction lately, but this one was much more than a story. I believe the Lord will use this book in other people’s lives as He has done in mine. Conviction, empathy, humble resolve, and even work ethic. Well done and I look forward to reading the sequel. Not simply to find out “what happens next,” but to get another glimpse into the lives of these people who are so serious about what it is to KNOW Jesus. Take care and God bless!

Hi Libby… I finished reading your books Tried with Fire and Amazing Love. There are not enough words to fully express how much I loved those books. Not only are you an excellent writer (my career was technical writing, and thus I appreciate good writing), but your storytelling and your witnessing for Christ are just amazing. I could not put the books down and they were a great reminder to me, a Christian, of how much I need to just turn everything over to Jesus and not worry about things. And – to remember that God has a plan for us and what may seem to us as bad things (financial burdens, illness, death, love lost, etc.) are part of God’s plans for bigger things. Your main characters served as great examples for us. You have a great gift in writing (among your musical gifts) and witnessing, and I feel honored to know you and to have read your book.

A well written book expressing family values, trials and tribulations. I couldn’t put this book down after I started to read it. It includes a tight plot, interesting characters, suspense and, most importantly, genuine Christian family values. Ms. Lindblom develops her characters with great skill and interest. It is an unforgettable read.

I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed the book. It kept me entertained and focused, which is hard for me to do sometime. I just know God meant for me to read this. I was wondering if there’s anyway that you were going to have a another book following this or if you have another book that you have written? I have really enjoyed it and hope to read more of your work. I hope you have a blessed day and thank you for the encouragement that you gave may the Lord bless you and keep you safe.

Delightful read! Tugs at your heart and lifts your spirit. What a witness Leah was to all those around her never losing hope or wavering from her faith. Kept picking up the book every opportunity I had until I finished.

Dear Libby, Thank you for writing Tried With Fire. I enjoyed reading about Leah’s unwavering faith in our steadfast and sovereign God. Equally important is her passion to see souls won to Christ–for their present and eternal life and for His Glory. (That we always keep this passion for souls is my prayer.) From this book, we can all delight in the goodness of God. Two Scriptures came to mind as I read: “The goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance” (Romans 2:4), and “Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who trusteth in Him” (Psalm 34:8).

Dear Libby, Our dear friend recently sent us your family’s CD along with the book you wrote, Tried With Fire. I have just finished reading it, and, wow, what a blessing it was! I enjoyed it so much! I love the way you wove the gospel message so beautifully into an exciting, inspirational tale of love, perseverance, and courage in the midst of the trials and difficulties of life. In recent years, I have really begun to appreciate stories that inspire good character in the hearts of the reader, a desire to model their lives after Christ, and a passion to know and love our amazing Savior more. Such stories are always a blessing and a treasure!

This book was very touching to me; it kept me on fire for the Lord. The last four chapters you really surprised me – it was the most touching ending, I never saw it coming but that goes to show you how great God is. How He can take sinners and make them whole again and have a life that they thought they never could have. Can’t wait till your next book comes; it will surely be on my wish list. Please keep me informed if you do publish another awesome Christian based book, they make you feel like you’re living in that story line. Thank you.

  21. Luke L.

Great story and a great message as well. Held my attention the whole way through. Definitely recommended!

  22. Russell J.

What a wonderful accomplishment! I truly enjoyed it. The storyline was well thought out and entertaining. Many of the classic elements of good storytelling are present. A traumatic event, trials of the body and soul, hard fought wins and overcoming obstacles, dealing with setbacks, and eventual resolution.

  23. Toni L.

This was a great read. Very uplifting. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and seeing how God worked in each of their lives.

  24. Barbara J.
